From a young age, I witnessed the resilience and compassion of my mother—a single parent and nurse raising six children. Her example instilled in me a deep respect for healthcare and a personal commitment to help others.
I received a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and spent several years as an editor and writer, focusing on health publications and content.
That eventually led me to study physical therapy. I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2007 from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I spent more than 17 years caring for patients, educating families, and leading programs grounded in equity, education, and access. Over time, it became clear that while individual care is vital, public policy is the foundation for meaningful, systemic change.
That realization inspired me to pivot from clinical care to the broader field of political science, where I’m now pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Colorado Denver. I am focused on leadership, nonprofit engagement, and legislative strategy. I bring firsthand knowledge of patient needs, experience crafting health education programs, and a passion for advancing equitable policy solutions at scale.
I’ve independently developed and advocated for policy, environmental, and education initiatives, both in clinical settings and through nonprofit and legislative channels.
I currently serve on the Advisory Committee for Representative Junie Joseph and actively engage in lobbying efforts to protect individual rights and support underserved populations.
I serve as a Board Trustee for the Colorado Women’s Education Foundation, where I help guide scholarship programs, advance advocacy efforts, and support grantmaking initiatives that expand educational access for women over the age of 25
I am eager to contribute my unique blend of clinical insight, communication skills, and policy acumen to a team that values human-centered political education and reform. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my background and values align with the Forward Party’s mission and goals.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the Forward Party.
