Douglas County residents push to expand board of county commissioners from 3 to 5
County Commissioners have blocked this effort to achieve better, more transparent representation. Colorado Legislators have repeatedly blocked this good government initiative. Now it is up to the citizens!
Signature gatherers are urgently needed today through July 22nd to complete the signature collection to place a citizens' initiative on the November ballot. Gatherers will be paid $7 per signature.
The Initiative does two things:
- Increases the number of Douglas County Commissioners from 3 to 5 and
- Aligns county government with a nationwide trend away from "At-Large" toward electing commissioners by District, ensuring every part of the county has a directly accountable representative.
