CO FWD Statement on ICE

ICE is operating in Colorado.

READ A STATEMENT FROM CO FWD

The Colorado Forward Party (CO FWD) is encouraged by the Stop ICE Violence demonstrations taking place across our state—from Denver and Boulder to Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and many smaller communities. Coloradans are coming together to stand up for their values. Strong civic engagement reflects the best of our democratic traditions.

As conversations around ICE activities continue nationwide, CO FWD believes Colorado can help lead the way toward a calmer, more constructive path forward.

Colorado has already taken meaningful steps. With the passage of SB25‑276, the “Protect Civil Rights Immigration Status” law, our state strengthened protections for individuals and set clear limits on ICE operations. This legislation was designed to guard against government overreach, a concern underscored by the tragic deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minnesota. Colorado’s proactive approach shows what is possible when communities and lawmakers work together.

Peaceful action remains our strongest tool. CO FWD encourages demonstrators to stay calm, follow the law, and continue modeling the kind of peaceful advocacy that moves public opinion and inspires change. When communities remain focused and nonviolent, their message becomes harder to ignore and easier for others to join.

Recording ICE activities provides transparency. Documenting interactions is a protected First Amendment activity, and it has played a vital role in bringing harmful actions to light. When people record what they witness, they help create a more accountable and thoughtful environment for everyone involved. These recordings have sparked national conversations and helped push for better policies.

Our constitutional rights remain a source of strength. CO FWD reaffirms its commitment to the rule of law and to the rights guaranteed by the Constitution—free speech, peaceful assembly, due process, and protection from unlawful searches and seizures. These rights belong to all people, and they give communities the tools to advocate for a more just and humane future.

Colorado has a long history of meeting challenges with resilience and optimism. CO FWD believes that by standing together, staying peaceful, and insisting on accountability, Coloradans can help shape a future where safety, dignity, and constitutional rights are protected for everyone.
