Introspection as individuals, as a community, and as a nation is essential for the health of our families and society. For the Colorado Forward Party, this is no different.
2024 was our first year as a minor party in Colorado. With the year coming to a close, Colorado Forward Party leadership got together in Golden for a full day on December 7th. We reflected on the past year, recognized our successes and shortcomings, and created a plan of action for continuous improvement. We will press on, engaging a broader cross-section of Colorado communities and a significantly scaled up number of Forward-endorsed candidates in 2025 and beyond.
Some of our successes in 2024:
- On January 28th, 2024, we became the newest minor party in Colorado. We are a statewide party focused on supporting candidates and elected officials representing their community principles and values, not a top-down, prescriptive, nationalized policy agenda.
- We registered Colorado Forward voters in 22 of our 64 counties along the Front Range and Western Slope, and are working to get 1,000+ registered Colorado Forward voters by the end of 2025.
- After extensive research and interviews — closely examining their approach to governance and desire to put service before self and party — we endorsed 18 Forward, Independent, Center, Democratic, and Republican Party candidates in the November 5th election. Five of our independent-minded Democratic and Republican candidates won their races, and many other endorsed candidates ran respectably competitive campaigns in their legislative districts and counties.
Some of our plans for 2025:
- Colorado school boards, municipalities, and special districts are foundational to the success of our communities and our state. The policies adopted cannot be nationalized: they must reflect community values. For the upcoming April and November nonpartisan elections, we are engaging with candidates seeking the Colorado Forward Party imprimatur of high standards, good governance, and public support.
- Through the engagement of active volunteers, we are building on our foundation of people and technology infrastructure to support Colorado Forward Party candidates and endorsed candidates of any party. This includes information technology, social media, county-based organizations, public policy analysis, public social gatherings, and voter registration events. We are developing a broad base of donors willing to contribute $5 or more monthly to complement our larger donors.
- The two major political parties unfairly control the process of selecting candidates for the ballot, constraining our choices via a taxpayer-funded primary system. During the year to come we will be further developing and involving you in Forward Project 2028. This bold initiative will provide a roadmap for how you can be involved as a candidate for local office, encourage your community to support a candidate, and be engaged in Colorado Forward Party success in your community.
We hope that you will consider participating in one or more of the following:
- Volunteer to help organize your county for Colorado Forward. Training and organizational support will be provided: Volunteer
- Register as a Colorado Forward voter: Voter Registration - Verify Your Identification - Colorado Secretary of State
- Donate to the CO Forward Party. We need $10,000 for materials and event registration fees over just the next six months: Donate to CFP
Wishing you a restful and joyous holiday season, and the happiest of new years.
Not Left. Not Right. Forward.
